Our Teachers
A+ Academy employs licensed and experienced teachers from elementary, junior high and high schools around New York City. They are assigned to classes based on subject matter (Math, Reading, and Writing) and course levels (3/4/5th Grade, Hunter, SHSAT, PSAT/SAT)Our teachers are licensed with public school teaching experience ranging from 5 to 20 years, with an average of 10 years, and are subject area experts in their field.

Our Team
Michelle Qiu
Michelle has worked with children for 15+ years. She started working with children as a teaching assistant at A+ Academy, and moved her way up to Director. Michelle’s prior work experience includes working as a teaching assistant at Brooklyn Chinese-American Association, management experience at Wells Fargo along with research experience at Pfizer. Upon joining A+ Academy full time, she assisted over 3000+ students into New York’s Specialized High Schools. Michelle received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Buffalo. Outside of work, Michelle is an avid traveler, with a love for exploring new foods. Michelle enjoys running outdoors, and has been running since she was an adolescent completing her first half marathon at the age of 12.
Yin Zhou
Yin has been working at A+ Academy since 2016. She graduated from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education (Grade 1-6 ) and a Master's degree in Bilingual Early Childhood Education (Birth - Grade 2). Yin loves to travel because it is the ultimate adventure, exposes her to new types of people and different ways of living, and opens her mind.
Mimi Zhu
Mimi graduated from Hunter College for her bachelors in Psychology and went on to attend Brooklyn College for her Master of Science in Education: School Counseling with bilingual extension. She has been with A+ Academy since 2016. Prior to joining A+ Academy, she was a director of a non-profit organization leading their youth education programs and co-hosted countless fundraising and public service events. When Mimi is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys traveling and seeing what the world has to offer, but also loves staying home with her children and dog the most.
Ada Chen
Ada has been at A+ Academy since 2012, starting as an assistant and rising to the position of a center manager. She has enjoyed working with the staff and teachers throughout the years, and has had the pleasure of seeing students grow both academically and socially. Ada graduated from Queens College with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. When she finds the chance, she would love to travel the world one day and try all the different cuisines and experience the different cultures the world has to offer.
Jasmine Wong
Jasmine graduated from Hunter College with her Bachelor of Arts Degree specializing in Early Childhood Education and Sociology. She is currently continuing her Master's Degree at Hunter College in Childhood Education. Jasmine began her journey at A+ Academy as a student taking OLSAT courses when she was in fifth grade all the way through SAT courses in her junior year. While being a student at A+ Academy, she joined the lovely A+ team in 2015. Over the years, she has had the pleasure to meet and work with different teachers and students that made an impact on her decision to become an educator. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, catching up on her favorite shows, and taking scenic walks.
Kristy Yip
Kristy graduated from Hunter College with her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and Sociology with a minor in Psychology, and continued on at Hunter College where she is currently obtaining her Master's Degree in Childhood Education. Kristy has been with A+ Academy since 2013, so this is her tenth year here. When Kristy is not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves to travel (mainly to eat) when given the chance, especially with close friends, but also loves to just stay home and relax with her dog.
